This summer study abroad course is offered through Fredonia State University of New York as an opportunity to study Renaissance painting, sculpture, and architecture for fifteen days in Italy with day trips to Fiesole, Siena, Arezzo, and two days of hiking and relaxing on the Mediterranian coast at Cinque Terre.
The Arts of Italy course introduces the student to the cradle of Renaissance culture and the philosophy of Humanism. Our classroom will be the museums, churches, and streets of the famous city states in Tuscany. Follow in the footsteps of Giotto, Dante, Donatello, Brunelleschi, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo and discover the rich cultural heritage of Italy.
The instructor of this course is Peter Tucker, Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts and New Media at Fredonia. Depending on enrollment, Laurie Detenbeck, a professor of Italian, will also be an instructor.
There are lots of photos from past trips on the Arts of Italy Facebook page.
